Mini excavator

What it is and what it's for
A mini excavator (up to ~6 tonnes) handles work where a full-size machine won’t fit: utility connections, work around buildings, gardens, small trenches and renovations. Narrow tracks, low transport weight and a tail that swings within the machine’s footprint make city work easy.
It is the most-bought type — easy to haul on a standard trailer and cheap to run. Before you buy, check the rubber tracks and the play in the boom pins: a fresh set of tracks and reconditioned attachments can push the price up fast. Japanese Kubota and Yanmar are known for durability, while new SANY and XCMG are cheapest straight from China.
